අධ්‍යාපනය, පුහුණුව සහ සන්නිවේදනය උද්භිද උද්‍යානවල ප්‍රධාන කාර්යයන්ය.
කාර්ය මණ්ඩල පුහුණුව සහ සංවර්ධනය ආයතනික ක්‍රියාකාරිත්වයේ කොටසක් වුවද, මහජනතාව, පාසල් සිසුන්, කුඩා ව්‍යාපාර, මල් වගාව සහ භූමි අලංකරණය පිළිබඳ සිසුන් සහ අනෙකුත් විශේෂඥයින් සඳහා ලබා දෙන අධ්‍යාපනය සහ පුහුණුව සම්බන්ධයෙන් මෙම අංශය ඉතා වැදගත් කාර්යභාරයක් ඉටු කරයි. වර්තමානයේ උද්‍යානය මගින් වසරකට පුද්ගලයින් 15,000කට අධික පිරිසකට පුහුණුව ලබා දෙමින් මල්වගාව සහ උද්‍යාන භූමි අලංකරණය පිළිබඳ එක්දින, දෙදින සහ තෙමස් පාඨමාලා පවත්වනු ලබයි. ඉහළ සුදුසුකම් අපේක්ෂා කරන වෘත්තීය මල් වගාකරුවන්ට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ව්‍යුහගත රැකියා පුහුණුවක් සඳහා අවස්ථාවක් නොමැති බැවින්, රාජකීය උද්භිද උද්‍යානය ප්‍රළුල් වශයෙන් පිළිගත් මල්වගාව සහ භූඅංකරණය පිළිබඳ ජාතික ඩිප්ලෝමා පාඨමාලාවක් පිරිනැමීමෙන් එම වෙළඳපොල පරතරය පියවා ගැනීම අරමුණු කරයි. මල් වගාව සහ භූඅංකරණය පිළිබඳ වසරක පාඨමාලාවේ ප්‍රධාන අරමුණ වන්නේ විදේශ රැකියා සොයන දේශීය උද්‍යාන හිමියන් සඳහා පුහුණු අවස්ථා ලබා දීමයි.
Education and training is a traditional element of the work of all Botanical Gardens. It is a wide ranging remit, from marketing and communication through to curricular design and course delivery where specific individual learning needs must be met. A planned approach to action, developed, delivered and often reviewed, will continue to ensure the quality and reputation of the Garden experience as in the botanic gardens of more developed countries. Training courses in Floriculture, Landscape gardening, Environmental education, Bio diversity and plant conservation methodologies will be conducted at Royal Botanic Gardens Peradeniya for the fulfillment of the following national necessities.

- To demonstrate practical applications of theoretical principles, referring throughout to current and future needs of the floriculture industry in Sri Lanka.
- To develop the skills and understanding in floriculture and Landscape Designs of unemployed youth in Sri Lanka.
- To establish and enhance the ability to develop amenity horticulture.
- To provide avenues for both local and foreign employment in floriculture and landscape gardening.
